Telefonica Moviles Peru Improves Roamer Management with Fair Isaac's RoamEx Solution

August 5, 2004 at 3:26 PM EDT

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 5, 2004--Fair Isaac Corporation (NYSE:FIC), the leading provider of analytics and decision technology, announced today that Telefonica Moviles Peru, the Peruvian subsidiary of Grupo Telefonica Moviles and leading wireless services provider in Peru, selected Fair Isaac's RoamEx(R) roamer data exchanger to gain near real-time visibility of roaming call records generated by their subscribers on other carrier networks.

Fair Isaac's RoamEx is the leading international real-time roamer visibility network for the wireless industry. The use of RoamEx will enable Telefonica Moviles Peru to secure revenues by providing roaming call detail records in real time. Grupo Telefonica Moviles has more than 54 million subscribers. In March, it reached an agreement to purchase the Latin American wireless assets of BellSouth, pushing its customer base to more than 66 million and making it the fourth largest wireless operator in the world. It also is the indisputable leader in the Peruvian wireless market with more than 1.7 million customers.

RoamEx sends completed call detail records covering voice, message and data calls from the servicing operator to the home operator within seconds, providing Telefonica Moviles Peru with wider visibility of a wireless subscriber who roams outside of the company's local network and allowing it to identify and respond almost immediately to a potential risk.

"RoamEx's ability to provide immediate access to call detail records will help us provide more efficient roaming service," stated David Holgado, Director of new telephone technologies at Telefonica Moviles Peru. "This means we can ensure the highest level of network performance and customer satisfaction because our customers will be able to roam more freely in more markets."

"Our RoamEx solution is designed to meet an operator's needs for near real-time data collection on all types of network technologies to guard against business risks that are not addressed as effectively by other usage reports and authentication processes," said Michael Gandolfo, Vice President of telecommunications solutions at Fair Isaac.

The RoamEx network has become an integral part of effective and comprehensive network assurance solutions for wireless carriers worldwide. It currently handles 95 percent of all roaming call records for the wireless industry in the U.S., Canada and Mexico and covers major markets in the Caribbean and South America. It also has been deployed in Asia and Africa. Supporting interfaces with a wide variety of platforms and networks in the industry, RoamEx processes over two billion call detail records every month around the globe for more than 75 wireless carriers.

RoamEx roamer data exchanger is part of Fair Isaac's advanced analytics and decision management solutions that bring greater speed and precision to all aspects of the telecom customer lifecycle, from acquisition to retention. The Fair Isaac Telecom Decision Analytics suite of solutions enables operators to automate and improve complex decisions, resulting in more valuable customer relationships and greater profitability.
